Your agent got a lot faster
Answers that need a catalog or knowledge lookup now land in roughly 7–9 seconds instead of 20–36 — with fewer needless “I couldn't confirm that” refusals.
We rebuilt the agent's engine room this month, and the visible result is simple: answers that used to take 20 to 36 seconds — the ones where the agent checks your catalog, your policies, your knowledge base — now typically land in 7 to 9. The final reply is composed while its facts are being double-checked instead of after, searches the agent will obviously need are started early, and clean results skip a whole round of deliberation.
Accuracy didn't pay for the speed: verification was recalibrated so the agent stops refusing to state things your store page plainly says, while deterministic guards on links and claims run on every single reply.
Where the seconds went
The slow answers were always the honest ones — the agent checking your catalog, your policies, your knowledge base before speaking. Those answers went from 20–36 seconds to roughly 7–9. Three changes carry most of it:
- Writing and checking overlap. The reply is composed in parallel with its fact-check, and recomposed only if the underlying data turns out to have changed. Most of the time it doesn't, so most of the time the checking costs no extra wait.
- Obvious searches start early. When a question plainly needs a catalog or knowledge lookup, that search kicks off immediately rather than waiting its turn.
- Clean results skip a round. When a lookup comes back unambiguous, the agent answers from it directly instead of deliberating over it again.
Fewer needless refusals
Speed wasn't the only recalibration. The agent's checking used to be cautious past the point of usefulness — refusing to confirm that a “$48” price is in dollars, say, because no page spelled out the currency. Facts that are plainly derivable from what your store says are no longer refused, so customers hear fewer “I couldn't confirm that” answers to questions your site clearly answers.
The hard guarantees didn't move: deterministic guards on links and claims still run on every single reply, fast path or not.
